First responders were dispatched to the park at approximately 3:20 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17, when there were reports of a motor vehicle crash that required the extraction of the driver after he drove through a booth.
Officials said that upon arrival, first responders found the driver trapped in the car, alive and conscious, standing inside, but unable to exit on his own.
Members of the Yorktown Heights Volunteer Fire Department were able to stabilize the car, removed the driver through the front window, and canvassed the area for any other potential passengers. Once out of the vehicle, the driver was then turned over to New York State Police troopers.
Yorktown Heights fire officials noted that while clearing the scene, crews were swarmed by a wasp nest that was destroyed during the crash, which required exterminators before they could clear the scene.
